Smile Makeovers - Evaluations
Serving Fresno, Reedley and surrounding areas
There are a number of ways we evaluate the smiles of our patients in the Fresno, Visalia and Reedley area. We regularly use two different approaches - an emotional evaluation and an objective analysis - to determine how we can best design the smile makeover you've always wanted.
Emotional Evaluation
Everyone has a unique, subjective perception of his or her smile. There may be imperfect features of your smile that aren't very noticeable to others but really have a negative impact on your confidence and self-esteem. For example, if your biggest concerns are that your teeth are too small or there's too much space between them, those are the features that the smile evaluation and subsequent smile design will focus on.
Objective Analysis
For this part of the analysis, Dr. Ikuta will help you objectively evaluate all the features of your smile and discuss the ways they could be improved. While examining your smile we can determine if:
- Your teeth are a brilliant shade of white or are discolored
- There are spaces between your teeth
- You have missing, crooked or uneven teeth
- Your teeth appear too small, short, fat or large
- The midline of your two front teeth is centered correctly
- Your smile is straight or if your teeth slant to one side
- You are grinding your teeth or if the biting edges are noticeably worn down
- Your gums are receded or asymmetrical
- You have gray, black or silver fillings
- You have old crowns that have dark edges at the top, making your teeth look unnatural
Based on the emotional and objective analysis, Drs. Dennis or Deric Ikuta can begin the smile makeover process - a process that is a detailed discovery of how you would like your new smile to look. Then, we can recommend the best aesthetic and restorative procedures to create your new look. Oftentimes a procedure like porcelain veneers can fix the majority of common dental problems in as few as two office visits.
