In virtually 90% of the population, the lower jaw is not in its optimal, most comfortable position, which causes pain and muscle tension in the jaw and surrounding area. A new mouth guard has been created based on the science of neuromuscular dentistry and is called the Pure Power Mouth Guard.

Neuromuscular dentistry is a branch of dentistry that works to alleviate symptoms such as headaches, neck and shoulder pain, jaw pain, clicking or popping noises of the jaw, and tinnitus (ringing of the ears) by achieving better alignment of the jaw. Neuromuscular dentistry focuses on the physical connection between the range of motion of jaw muscles and joints and your body posture.

The Pure Power Mouth Guard helps to properly align muscles in the face, improving muscle recruitment and vertebrae alignment. The PPMT results in improved strength and balance.

Drs. Dennis and Deric Ikuta in Reedley, California are certified Pure Power Mouth Guard dentists who are able to determine your best possible jaw position through computerized tracking of your jaw using a TENS machine (Transcutaneous Electro Neural Stimulation). The TENS machine is used to help relax your muscles and put them in their most comfortable position. When they are in that position, your PPM is fitted returning your muscles to this optimal position when the guard is in your mouth. When your PPM is in and your jaw is in its optimal position, the muscles surrounding the area are no longer stressed, giving you a comfortable bite, improved balance, and increased upper body strength.

The Pure Power Mouth Guard is only available through a PPMT certified dentist such as Dr. Dennis or Deric Ikuta whose office is in Reedley, California. Drs. Ikuta will evaluate you and take impressions of your lower and upper teeth, and your optimal bite will be determined during your first appointment, which will last approximately 1-2 hours. Your PPMT will take about a week to be made in a lab, and during your second visit, you will be fitted with your brand new custom made Pure Power Mouth Guard.
