There are two types of gum treatments that we offer our patients in the Fresno, Visalia and Reedley area: gum re-contouring (also called a 'gum lift') and periodontal therapy. Gum re-contouring is a cosmetic dentistry procedure used to re-shape the gum line, while periodontal therapy is used to treat gum disease.

Gum Re-Contouring

Periodontal Therapy

Advanced periodontal (gum) disease can lead to tooth loss if it isn't treated appropriately. Common symptoms of this disease include:

• Bacterial infections at and below the gum line

The traditional treatment of advanced periodontal disease used to be a three-step process that included fully cleansing the tooth root's surface, trimming the damaged, excess gum around the tooth and then suturing the gums. Laser dentistry has made this process easier and safer because it can:

• Fully eliminate the bacteria causing infection
• Reduce gum pockets without incisions, stitches and the bleeding, swelling and pain caused by traditional methods
