Bruxism

Bruxism is a Greek word, meaning gnashing of teeth. It is also one of the most prevalent dental problems. Approximately 25% of the population is affected by Bruxism. In severe forms it can wear down teeth extremely fast, and cause a sequelae of symptoms along the way. Some of the more severe symptoms include chronic headaches, jaw locking, and ear problems including tinnitus and vertigo. Fortunately majority of the people do not suffer severe symptoms, but that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't a problem. There can be a lot of signs that damage has occurred without any symptoms. Some common signs that Bruxing has occurred are: Worn down flat teeth, abfractions, which are part of the tooth chipping at the gum line causing a notched appearance, gum recession, and fractures/cracks in teeth.

Fortunately there is new technology that can not only eliminate most of the symptoms, but eliminate the forces that are causing the damage. For more information please call the office or e-mail us.
